With 3 days of exploration at Ba Bể, you will experience the most exciting adventure, including stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) on the Năng River, paddling through Puông Cave, trekking through the forest, camping by Ba Bể Lake, and many other wonderful experiences. This tour is not just an ordinary SUP tour, nor is it a typical outdoor experience, but an incredibly thrilling nature exploration in one of the most beautiful regions in Northern Vietnam.
“Full inclusion” – The tour includes everything from transportation, boat, camping, SUP, professional guide, drinking water, and even travel insurance.
06:30 Depart for Bắc Kạn. We will have a stopover in Thái Nguyên along the way.
12:00 Lunch in Chợ Rã town.
13:00 Continue to Bốc Luốm boat station. This is where we will start our SUP journey down the Năng River towards Puông Cave and Ba Bể Lake. The Năng River is quite narrow with a strong current. The scenery along the Năng River is diverse and majestic. Some parts of the river run along sheer cliffs, while other parts open up to narrow valleys or cornfields. The highlight of the journey is paddling through Puông Cave, a massive cave through which the river flows. Due to the strong current and downstream direction, we will not expend much energy despite the considerable paddling distance.
15:30 After exiting Puông Cave, we will take a break on a small island in the river to enjoy Chill Time*, with fruits and cold drinks in the beautiful natural surroundings. We will then continue paddling to the confluence of the Năng River and Ba Bể Lake.
We will transfer to a motorboat and enter the lake. During the summer, the boat will stop for us to enjoy swimming in the clear, year-round blue waters of Ba Bể. Our destination today is the Umove Adventure camping site by the lake, not far from Pắc Ngòi village. Upon arrival at the camping site, we will enjoy a welcome drink and receive our tents. You can take a shower and relax before dinner.
19:00 Dinner at the camping site. After a delicious meal at the campsite, we will enjoy a fun evening around the campfire with friends before going to sleep.
* Meals included: lunch, dinner
* Chill Time is organized at different locations depending on the weather of each season.

12:00 Picnic lunch at Tiên Pond before paddling back to the Năng River. This afternoon, we will conquer the most beautiful and wildest section of the Năng River with majestic high cliffs. After over an hour of paddling on the river, we will reach Đầu Đẳng Waterfall. We will leave our SUPs at the boat station and walk about 1 km to the waterfall. Rest and take photos at Đầu Đẳng Waterfall before returning to the boat station. We will take a motorboat back to Ba Bể Lake. If time permits, we will enjoy swimming in the clear, year-round blue waters of Ba Bể.
16:30 The motorboat will take us to Pắc Ngòi village, where we will have dinner and spend the night at a homestay in the village.
18:30 Dinner. Overnight at the homestay.
We’ll meet at 4 p.m. at our hotel in Luzern (Lucerne) for a “Welcome to Switzerland” meeting. Then we’ll take a meandering evening walk through Switzerland’s most charming lakeside town, and get acquainted with one another over dinner together. Sleep in Luzern (2 nights). No bus. Walking: light.

4. SUP Route Advisory:
On the first day, we will paddle approximately 8km from Boc Luom pier to the confluence of Song Nang and Ba Be Lake. This entire paddling route is downstream with a fairly swift current. Physical endurance is not a concern; however, those with limited experience in paddling SUPs in strong currents may feel a bit anxious initially. Participants should wear life jackets, use ankle leashes, and avoid standing directly on the SUP board at the starting point. After paddling about 1-2km downstream and feeling more comfortable and confident with the water current, participants may start standing and paddling.
While paddling on the river, participants should be cautious to avoid areas with swift currents or obstacles such as tree branches and rocks. Note that if you are a strong swimmer and experienced paddler, you may remove the life jacket and secure it on the SUP board, but it is absolutely forbidden to remove the ankle leash.
5. Trekking Route:
Our trekking route is quite gentle with short walking times, easy trails, and minimal elevation gain. Nevertheless, participants should still wear suitable sports or hiking shoes for a safe and comfortable trek through the forest.
6. Food & Beverage:
Lunches at the camping site and local restaurants feature a variety of local dishes. Dinners and lunches mainly consist of seasonal dishes such as fish, chicken, pork, and seasonal vegetables. Breakfast at the camping site usually includes chicken noodles, pork rib noodles, or shrimp noodles.
To ensure participants’ energy levels, Umove Adventure provides specialized energy bars at a rate of 2 bars per person per day. Drinking water during treks will be fetched by the porter team from boiled spring water to ensure it is bacteria-free. Participants are advised to bring their own water bottles for daily use.
Hot tea and coffee will be provided before and after each meal at the overnight stay location.
7. Environmental Protection Collaboration:
Umove Adventure supports and implements Leave No Trace principles in its programs and outdoor tour activities. We also encourage customers and partners to apply Leave No Trace principles when traveling in outdoor environments. For more details on Leave No Trace, click here: [Leave No Trace Details](link to be provided).
To minimize the use of single-use plastic bottles, Umove Adventure recommends each guest bring a 1L water bottle for daily water refills.
8. Safety & Health Advisory:
If you have heart disease or joint issues (knees, ankles, shoulders, …), it is advisable to consult with a doctor before deciding to participate in the trip.
Tour guides will carry basic first aid kits. If you have health issues requiring medication, please bring your own personal medications.
You can visit Ba Be Lake throughout the year, as each season offers its own unique charm. However, the best weather for tourism is from March to October. During this time, you can immerse yourself in the cool and fresh waters of Ba Be Lake and enjoy its beautiful natural surroundings. From November, the temperature at Ba Be Lake becomes cooler, which is ideal for trekking and SUP activities. During spring, visitors can admire Ba Be Lake amidst the red blossoms of peach and rice flowers, set against the backdrop of lush greenery.
This tour is suitable for children aged 12 and above, accompanied by their parents or guardians.
The tour is rated at a medium difficulty level (6/10), suitable for most people, including those with limited trekking experience. The terrain is not too steep, and daily trekking distances are about 6km. However, it’s advisable to review preparation and guidance for the 6/10 difficulty level here.
Umove Adventure does not organize tours specifically for pets. If you wish to bring a pet, consent from all tour participants is required. You are responsible for ensuring the pet’s hygiene and safety.
We will camp at Umove Adventure’s camping site near the lake and not far from Pac Ngoi village. You can use toilets and bathing facilities here for personal needs. During trekking, burial-type sanitation will be used.
You can participate in activities even if you cannot swim. However, you must strictly follow the safety instructions of the guide. All participants intending to enter the water while kayaking or SUPing must wear life jackets and ankle leashes.
If you feel too tired to continue kayaking or SUP, promptly notify your guide or support boat. Most Umove Adventure tours have support motorboats available. If unable to continue, you can board the motorboat to follow the remaining program.
With a difficulty level of 6/10, even those who have never kayaked or SUPed before can participate. Before you enter the water, the guide will instruct the group on basic paddling skills and safety practices.
